Conglaturations. In that case, you might be particularly interested in a development next turn. Speaking of which:name_here wrote:Also, whee, I am in the lead for gem income.
Turn 19:

Sorry it took longer than usual to upload, I had a paper to write and turn in, and I only managed to get to Lavabit around half an hour ago.
EDIT: actually, given how recently turns have been submitted, it looks like I wasn't late at all. I think I just barely caught Man's revised turn.

I don't have any D2 starspawn? Seriously, game?

That would require me rushing construction 6. I have some Evocation to research at the moment.

Then why, oh why, do you need D2? If you aren't pushing for conjuration or enchantment D does precious little for you. (Or construction, but still.)name_here wrote:That would require me rushing construction 6. I have some Evocation to research at the moment.
My point really is that hopefully, by the time you need death at high levels, you will have construction 6 and the difference between D1 and D2 will be one item that you will want anyway.
For a different cunning plan. Also, skull mentors. Mostly the mentors, since I need construction 6 anyhow for the other plan unless I feel like empowering, which I don't.
Hurry up with the hammer, Avor.

Trade for a skull staff, you will get better milage out of using hammers on clams anyway. (Saving 4 water and 2 nature is like getting 3 clams for the price of two, which is cooler for an astral power than saving 3 death gems which are harder to put to good use anyway)name_here wrote:For a different cunning plan. Bottom line for me, if I had so much D that I was contemplating mentor spam, I likely wouldn't need to use a hammer to make that a reality.

The conversations around this game make is sound so interesting.
And then I see a screenshot and vomit a little into my mouth.

I don't know, since two guys made it as a niche title, I think I prefer the sprites to whatever shitty looking 3D modeling they could scrape together. I would love it if someone made a game like this with an actual budget, because then we could have a world map and interface that was clearer.Blasted wrote:The conversations around this game make is sound so interesting.

And more than two sprites for each unit.
I don't really care about the sprites that much. My main beef is the sheer amount of bullshit to wade through to figure enough out to be mildly competent. I mean, I can't play with you guys, but even if I could, I'm not sure I want to, because damn, I would get steamrolled in seconds since by turn 10 even the faction that was abandoned for two turns is better off than I would be.Akula wrote:I don't know, since two guys made it as a niche title, I think I prefer the sprites to whatever shitty looking 3D modeling they could scrape together. The U.S. isn't a democracy and if you think it is, you are a rube.DSMatticus wrote:Kaelik gonna kaelik. Whatcha gonna do?
That's libertarians for you - anarchists who want police protection from their slaves.
We're approaching a point of crisis where I may try something not in that previously linked LP. We'll see.

Oh yeah, the learning curve is the worst part of the game for sure. You can get around it, to an extent, by doing reading and shit. But fuck that, my game isn't my job and I don't want to have to memorize spreadsheets to play competently.Kaelik wrote:I don't really care about the sprites that much. But I really think that the game engine makes shit worse. Try giving coherent orders to your fucking commanders when you have 20 in a province. It is utter bullshit, because you can totally lose track of some of them if they are stuck between other guys.
Oh, and there are hidden hotkeys that the manual doesn't fucking tell you about...Which is stupid. For instance, do you know you can sort the spells you what a commander to cast by the main school? You can! All you have to do is press the first letter of the school (or s in the case of astral) and you can save a lot of scrolling or hunting this way. But, it isn't even in the manual.
...
I hate the manual writers so much.
So is there a hidden shortcut to save hunting for paths on dudes or do I just have to man up and do the naming thing?

I think the learning curve is severely overrated. Getting to the top end understanding of complex races is really hard, but there are a couple of groups of races:Kaelik wrote:I don't really care about the sprites that much. A) Bad ones
B) One trick ponies with a competent trick, like Abysia
C) really ass fuckingly complicated races like T'ien Chi
Playing Class B races like Abysia to a rudimentary level isn't very complicated (Mass fire mages, Mass infantry that is immune to fire, blast bad dues with firey shit while massed infantry mops up whatever is left).
Ashdod is even less complicated.
